As a sponsoring Habitat for Humanity organization, Marist Women Build must raise $75,000 to build a home.  The adult volunteers contribute $200 to participate in the build, but no willing worker is turned away.  The balance is raised through corporate and family sponsors and donors like you.  The home must be completely funded by early February, 2011.

Why support Marist Women Build?
You will give a single mother a "hand-up, not a "hand-out":  By design, we build a home for a single working mother.  We are inspired by the strength and courage of these women and their families as they work side by side with us to fulfill their dreams of homeownership.  Building the home is just one step in the process.  As with all homeowners, these women attend classes on homeownership, volunteer 250 "sweat-equity" hours, and assume financial responsibility for a mortgage after the first year.

You will enable more children to attend college:  Our first homeowner told us recently that "By owning my home, I was able to give my sons the stability they needed.  Now all three of my sons are attending college or soon will be."

You will empower women in your community to make a difference: The Marist Women Build project demonstrates that Women can build homes for deserving women.  The mother's daughters, faculty, and staff of Marist School comprise our work force of 275 volunteer builders

Please consider supporting this worthy cause.  Your donation is 100% tax deductable.

What is Marist Women Build?
Eight years ago, the women of Marist School teamed with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity to form the first High School All-Women Build in the country.  Because of the generous donations of our corporate sponsors, family sponsors, and volunteers, we have built nine homes for nine single women and their families and are getting ready to start our 10th home in March, 2011.  While we are proud of our accomplishments, the need is still great - there are over 3,000 applicants each year for only 55 homes.

Visit the Marist Women Build or Atlanta Habitat for Humanity for more information.

Last year, I had the opportunity to work along side of the new homeowner and meet her 10 year old daughter.  I realized that in this one Saturday of volunteering, we were helping make a permanent change in their lives.

Please consider donating to help
us build a home for another mom and her children.  It will make an incredible difference in these children's futures.  Please consider donating to help build the 2011 home.

"I am making this donation in honor of my Grandmother Mabel Alspaugh who was an amazing woman to me. Born in 1900 and lived 99 years with many in hardship but never complained and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She believed everyone deserved a chance in life."
