As a sponsoring Habitat for Humanity organization, Marist Women Build must raise $75,000 to build a home.  The adult volunteers contribute $200 to participate in the build, but no willing worker is turned away.  The balance is raised through corporate and family sponsors and donors like you.  The home must be completely funded by early February, 2011.

Why support Marist Women Build?
You will give a single mother a "hand-up, not a "hand-out":  By design, we build a home for a single working mother.  We are inspired by the strength and courage of these women and their families as they work side by side with us to fulfill their dreams of homeownership.  Building the home is just one step in the process.  As with all homeowners, these women attend classes on homeownership, volunteer 250 "sweat-equity" hours, and assume financial responsibility for a mortgage after the first year.

You will enable more children to attend college:  Our first homeowner told us recently that "By owning my home, I was able to give my sons the stability they needed.  Now all three of my sons are attending college or soon will be."

You will empower women in your community to make a difference: The Marist Women Build project demonstrates that Women can build homes for deserving women.  The mother's daughters, faculty, and staff of Marist School comprise our work force of 275 volunteer builders

Please consider supporting this worthy cause.  Your donation is 100% tax deductable.

What is Marist Women Build?
Eight years ago, the women of Marist School teamed with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity to form the first High School All-Women Build in the country.  Because of the generous donations of our corporate sponsors, family sponsors, and volunteers, we have built nine homes for nine single women and their families and are getting ready to start our 10th home in March, 2011.  While we are proud of our accomplishments, the need is still great - there are over 3,000 applicants each year for only 55 homes.

Libby & Alex Whelan's Story

Hello Friends & Family.  I got involved with Marist Women's Build about 7 years ago when Brian was just a Freshman.  I volunteered to be part of an all women build team that 1st year and have had a ball since.  After a couple years of volunteering, I stepped up to the plate and joined the Marist Women's Build Committee and have served for the past 4 years.  Again having a great time with a great group of women.  I hope you like the pic of Alex and I working on last year's home.  I loved finally getting a chance to work with Alex (she had to be 16 to volunteer).  This year we are scheduled to work together on April 2nd.  The mother daughter teams really have fun together building a home for a deserving family and sharing a day of hard work.  So friends & family, please considering helping Alex and I reach our fundraising goal of $1,000.  Any amount of donation will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you to everyone for your generosity.  Also please keep the Marist Women's Build mission in your prayers this spring as we begin work on our 10th house on March 19th.  Thanks Libby & Alex.
